Individual member savings accounts are federally insured for up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). The fund is regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. Individual Retirement Accounts have additional coverage up to $250,000. All members of federally insured credit union have options for additional coverage that is separate from and in addition to the coverage available for individual accounts as described above.
